INCREASING INDEPENDENCE

This NEW workshop series will provide parents and professionals with tools to increase the independence of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays. Sessions will occur once per week over the course of 5 weeks.

Workshop Objectives:

  • Discover the importance of improving your child's independence with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Learn the components of Applied Behaviour Analysis, an evidenced-based approach for addressing challenging behaviour and teaching new skills
  • Leave with helpful strategies for common problems that occur when teaching daily living tasks

Weekly Topics

Week 1: Introduction to activities of daily living and ABA
Week 2: Tolerance, Routines, and Independent Activities
Week 3: Dressing and Hygiene
Week 4: Eating and Sleeping
Week 5: Toileting (information can be tailored to the group)
