Comprehensive Early Intervention Program for Preschool-Aged Children on the Autism Spectrum and their Families - Calgary Based

A comprehensive and highly individualized program for children with autism aged 18 months to 6 years, designed to help them develop skills to thrive and be lifelong learners, ready for school and beyond.

Who is This For?
Children aged 18 months - 6 years old

This program can be funded largely through FSCD (Specialized Services, Behavioural Developmental Aide Support) or Privately. Your insurance company may also reimburse some or all of the costs.

Dates and Times

Sessions may occur Monday to Friday, 8:30-12 or 1:00-4:30. Hours of programming are based on the individual needs of child and family.

Philosophy

Centred around the principles of contemporary/progressive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Team

Psychologist, Behaviour Consultant, Speech Language Pathologist, Aides.

Other professionals may be included such as: Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist.

Curriculum

Individualized to the needs of your child.

About

Learning takes place in the places your child spends the most time (home, daycare, community) as well as our clinic. We work closely with your family to identify your priorities and develop your child's unique curriculum.

Families receive regular guidance and training so you are equipped with relevant skills and strategies to ensure your child thrives. Whenever possible we work collaboratively with your child's school or PUF program to ensure coordination of strategies and to support inclusion and participation.

Learning how to learn, listening skills, attention, self-care, social skills, safety, engagement, communication, behavioural self-control, fine and gross motor skills, school or community activity readiness.

Professional Consultation - Calgary Based and Out of Town

Our highly skilled professionals work with you in your home or community to develop practical goals to help children thrive in their every-day life. Our focus is on providing evidence-based strategies and intervention support that lead to functional skills that allow children to be independent and participate fully in all aspects of life. Consultations are available as stand-alone sessions or as part of a continuous support plan.

Who is This For?
Children aged 1-18

Families who are unable or do not wish to utilize Autism Partnership aide services (they may employ their own aides or have no aides at all)
Families who want support in one or more area such as toilet training, sleep, increasing willingness to try new foods, increasing cooperation, managing anxiety
Children who do not require intensive intervention
Families who live outside of Calgary
Children who need support to settle and adapt to their school placement
Schools who want compassionate and effective strategies to help their students better adapt to the educational environment

Consultation for families may be funded largely through Specialized Services, Behavioural Developmental Aide Support, or Privately. Your insurance company may also reimburse some or all of the costs.

Team

Psychologist, Behaviour Consultant. Other professionals such as Speech Language Pathologist and Occupational Therapist may be included depending on need.

Curriculum

Individualized based on need and specific areas of concern. Some specific areas of challenge may include:

Difficulty with toilet training
Stress management
Frustration tolerance
Developing social skills
Managing anxiety
Supporting sibling relationships
Difficulty with transitions
Food-selectivity
Cooperation with daily tasks such as completing homework or brushing teeth
Resistance to haircuts, nail-clipping etc.

When We Work With Schools

Our team will work collaboratively with an educational team to develop goals, and reduce the barriers to improve each child's participation and success in school.

This includes on-site coaching to build capacity of school personnel, and to help them better understand and teach children with autism or children who experience challenges within a school environment.

Training Workshops - Calgary Based and Out of Town

Our team of consultants travel throughout Canada to provide expert ABA treatment to families, schools and other organizations. We specialize in building capacity within your community, utilizing the resources available.

The workshop model provides hands-on training of staff and parents in implementation of effective, evidence-based strategies and individualized programs.

Calgary based workshops are training workshops for other organizations in Calgary such as daycares, community programs, schools and other service providers who want to increase their understanding and develop skills in any or all of the following areas:

Understanding autism spectrum disorder

Application of progressive approaches to effective teaching

Strategies to support independence in daily routines

Empowering anxious children

Compassionate approach to understanding and reducing challenging behaviour

Proactive behaviour support strategies

Identifying and teaching social skills
